Company designs, manufactures, and integrates flight control systems for military and commercial aircraft.
Based in East Aurora, New York, Moog is a worldwide designer, manufacturer, and integrator of flight control components and systems for military and commercial aircraft, including rotorcraft and uncrewed aircraft systems (UASs). The company, founded in 1951, has designed and made helicopter flight control, vibration control, and utility actuation products for more than 50 years.
Moog’s rotorcraft offerings also include avionics, power and data transmission, rapid weapon systems’ integration and launchers, and sustainment and modernization service.
UAS Technology
Moog’s latest rotorcraft product, the HE350 Recluse UAS, is an autonomous hybrid electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft created from the company’s S250 eVTOL technology testbed. The HE350 is reconfigurable to perform various operations, including fire suppression, tactical resupply/delivery, and emergency infiltration and exfiltration of people.
Avionics
As the parent company of Genesys Aerosystems, Moog offers its Genesys Avionics Suite both individually and fully integrated as an entire modernized cockpit to extend operational life and improve mission effectiveness. Moog’s integrated avionics systems incorporate autopilots, radios, and electronic flight instrument system (EFIS) displays.
Power and Data Transmission
For power and data transmission, Moog provides helicopter slip rings for applications including blade deicing and positioning, flight controls, tip lights, and more. The long-life, high-performance slip rings meet requirements for high rotational speed, exposure to extreme weather conditions, and high vibration.
Military Aircraft Support
Moog is deeply entrenched in supporting military aircraft and is the OEM for several systems on the UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter. Moog’s flight controls on the Black Hawk include a pitch trim actuator, roll trim actuator, and hydraulic accumulator. The aircraft also uses the company’s vibration control actuation system, which replaces traditional passive systems by measuring vibration levels at key locations in the aircraft and applying cancellation forces in an equal and opposite direction.
Moog’s weapon stores management system is designed to provide a modular open system approach (MOSA)–compliant, commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) weapons control system that seamlessly integrates with aircraft sensors and mission management systems. The weapon stores management system features a flexible modular design to enable rapid integration and future upgrades to its sensors, avionics, and weapons.
Sustainment and Modernization Services
Moog’s sustainment and modernization services include repair and overhaul support, reliability enhancements, technology insertion, and on-site field service support and training.
