Longtime operator provides charter, FBO, and other services.

Reeder Flying Service of Twin Falls, Idaho, was founded in 1941 by Charles T. Reeder. Now, more than 80 years later, the company has evolved from a homegrown crop-dusting operation to a full service FBO (fixed-base operator) and helicopter charter company headquartered at Joslin Field/Magic Valley Regional Airport (KTWF), a nonhub commercial service airport.

Since 1960, Reeder has provided helicopter charter services in the Western United States, operating under FAA Parts 135, 133, and 137. Its fleet of helicopters includes the Airbus AS350 B3 and AS350 B3e, the Bell 206L, and the UH-60A Black Hawk.

Helicopter Operations
Reeder’s helicopter operations have built a reputation for high performance and availability, with its highly experienced pilots being both factory trained and government carded. Typical operations for Reeder’s helicopters include wildland firefighting and support, external-load longline work, aerial crane services, seismic exploration support, construction, concrete placement, livestock herding, search and rescue, power-line and pipeline patrol, aerial seeding and hydroseeding, sightseeing, aerial motion and still photography, and public lands resource management.

Safety is paramount at Reeder Flying Service. The company utilizes a comprehensive safety management system (SMS) and has achieved IS-BAO Stage II accreditation for its high level of safety and professionalism. The operator outlines on its website its 12-point commitment to safety, beginning with developing and maintaining a strong safety culture. It readily shares that:

  • No Reeder employee is asked to compromise safety standards
  • Hazard and incident reporting is encouraged
  • All personnel are trained in safety management
  • The company is always striving for continuous improvement in risk identification and mitigation.

FBO and Line Services
In addition to helicopter operations, Reeder operates FBO and line services, offering not only fuel, hangar space, rental cars, and hotel arrangements but also a pilot lounge, crew cars, catering, free Wi-Fi, a snack-and-vending area, and a pilot shop.

Reeder’s line services are extensive, with the company aiming to provide five-star quick-turn service. Its technicians are certified by the National Air Transportation Association’s Safety 1st in-depth training program and support transient aircraft with Avfuel 100LL, Jet A fuel, oxygen, preheating, ground power, type 1 deicing, type 4 anti-icing, air starts, jet starts, military contract fuel, and more.
