An international leader in intelligent connectivity solutions for all segments of aviation, Skytrac Systems of Kelowna, British Columbia, Canada, has designed, developed, and produced satellite communications systems for more than 35 years. Skytrac’s solutions provide mission-critical capabilities for coast guards, militaries, air ambulance providers, aerial firefighting operations, and law enforcement agencies, among others.

Skytrac is a value-added reseller, manufacturer, and service provider to Iridium Communications, enabling broadband, midband, and narrowband L band satellite connectivity through the powerful Iridium NEXT constellation launched in 2019.

Satellite Communications
Skytrac’s flagship satcom systems, which include the SDL-350 and ISAT-200A, feature flight data acquisition, flight following, flight data monitoring, live video streaming, in-flight camera support, electronic flight bag (EFB) automation solutions, satellite and cellular connectivity, satellite push-to-talk, and the ability to host custom applications to enable real-time health and usage monitoring system (HUMS) exceedance alerting, automated post-flight data downloading, and more.

The SDL-350, capable of enabling up to 704 Kbps of satcom bandwidth throughput, is intended to enable first-of-its-kind satellite connectivity using low-profile, lightweight antennas immune to the rotor shadow effect that impacts legacy GEO (geosynchronous equatorial orbit) satellite networks.

UAV Support
Skytrac also recently expanded into the uncrewed aviation segment with the new IMS-350 UAV (uncrewed aerial vehicle) satcom terminal and onboard server, capable of up to 352 Kbps of bandwidth transfer, and the rugged DLS-100 datalink terminal, capable of up to 88 Kbps of bandwidth transfer through satellite. Skytrac has secured partnerships with UAV operators, OEMs, and technology partners including AnsuR, FuVeX, and Nordic Unmanned for this technology.

ACR Group
As a member of the ACR Group, which features FreeFlight Systems, Flight Data Systems, Latitude Technologies, ACR Electronics, and NAL Research, Skytrac is able to provide value-added solutions across various technical domains of aviation.

Skytrac recently expanded throughout Canada with additional locations in Victoria, British Columbia, and Ottawa, Ontario.
