Company’s flight-planning, flight-monitoring software provides integrated weather and risk-mitigation information.
Based in Kelowna, British Columbia, Canada, TrooTrax developed and provides TrooTrax Mission, a comprehensive flight-planning, flight-following, flight-monitoring tool designed to be accessible from any computer or mobile device. The software program offers integrated aviation weather displays, automated flight risk mitigation, master caution panel alerts, and a mobile app.
Whether you operate a single aircraft or manage a fleet, TrooTrax Mission is configurable to deliver real-time locations and notifications on each aircraft. Developed over 14 years, the program offers more than 100 adjustable viewing options that let users fit the application to the operation. Map layers, which include weather layers, are fully customizable, and notifications can be sent via email and text.
Weather and Risk Awareness
TrooTrax markets its program’s weather awareness capabilities as unprecedented in the industry in providing the vital information needed to help avoid inadvertent flight into instrument meteorological conditions (IIMC), a leading cause of fatal helicopter accidents. With 63 current and forecast FAA-NOAA and Baron Weather API weather layers, the software is designed to expedite time-to-launch by automating weather and hazard checking along a planned flight route. By providing this integration, the program is designed to reduce the amount of time flight planners and pilots spend checking multiple forecasts to develop a full picture of weather hazards before and during the flight.
Once in the air, TrooTrax Mission continues to provide both automated and manual real-time weather assessments, giving pilots the information needed to make go/no-go decisions literally on the fly. The program also monitors potential risks throughout the flight, including weather, obstacles, and terrain, regardless of where or whether a flight plan is filed. When flights are overdue, alerts are automatically sent with the aircraft’s last known position.
TrooTrax Mission’s capabilities exceed FAA Part 135 flight-following requirements. The program is designed to be coupled with the customer’s choice of tracking devices and can be integrated into the operator’s safety management system (SMS).
Alert Notifications
For aircraft equipped to link to the technology, TrooTrax Mission offers master caution panel alert notification to flight-following and flight-monitoring personnel. Graphic and event alerts appear on the map or as notifications to a mobile device via email, text, or the TrooTrax Mission mobile app. The fully configurable app, available for iOS and Android devices, is engineered to put a completely operational flight control center in the user’s hand wherever the individual may be.
