One of the most necessary and significant recurring costs of doing business in the rotorcraft industry is insurance. If you’re a pilot, insurance administrator, or business owner, you’re aware the cost of your policy(cies) continues to rise. Helicopter Association International (HAI) understands the impact these expenses have on businesses and individuals, and we’re working to address this pressing issue.

At its summer meeting, the HAI Board of Directors approved the establishment of the HAI Aviation Insurance Working Group (AIWG). This working group will have the opportunity to contribute to the development and implementation of HAI’s strategic direction and support programs related to aviation industry priorities and programs. All sectors of the aviation industry are realizing substantial effects from insurance-sector demands. The focus of the new working group will be to identify and evaluate key issues and provide recommendations that will help inform the HAI Board of Directors about aviation insurance concerns.

The HAI AIWG, which will comprise up to 20 voting members, will include a diverse mix of HAI members representing a variety of operations or segments within our industry.

Members serving on the HAI AIWG ideally will demonstrate a strong commitment to the industry, be knowledgeable about industry issues and challenges, and act as change agents within their organization and/or the industry. AIWG members must also possess an ability and willingness to devote the necessary time and effort to attend the group’s meetings and contribute to the work of both the full working group meetings and any assigned task groups. Membership in HAI—either as an individual or through a business membership—is required.

The working group will meet at least four times each year. The first meeting is tentatively scheduled to take place at HAI headquarters in Alexandria, Virginia, in late 2022.

If you’re interested in being selected for the HAI Aviation Insurance Working Group, please submit your letter of interest and resume at the AIWG application web page no later than Oct. 31, 2022.
