In January 1979, HAI WAS THERE to establish an HAI member-exclusive loss of license insurance program for pilots. The member benefit was part of a long-term effort to address one of the biggest cost items for operators: insurance. The program provided protection for pilots whose livelihoods could be jeopardized due to a minor medical issue or medication that led to a loss of income.

Loss of license insurance continues to be available to HAI member pilots today, through a partnership with Lockton Affinity. The program protects pilots with up to $5,000 a month in income replacement and provides operators with another benefit to offer to retain talented employees.

And through a partnership with LIG Solutions, HAI members can also access affordable health insurance for their companies, families, and employees.

To address the ever-increasing cost of insurance, HAI recently established the Aviation Insurance Working Group. The group works to identify and evaluate aviation industry insurance issues and assists in the development of recommendations, programs, and best practices to ease industry burdens and facilitate collaboration between operator and insurance industry stakeholders.

This year, we celebrate the 75th anniversary of HAI, formed on Dec. 13, 1948.

Countdown to HAI’s 75th: 30 days!
