On Sep. 27, 2018, the FAA’s Rotorcraft Occupant Protection Working Group (ROPWG) submitted a report to the agency’s Aviation Rulemaking Advisory Committee containing 20 recommendations focused on improving occupant crash protection for helicopters. The recommendations led to pivotal changes in helicopter occupant protection regulations, research programs, and accident investigation as well as other valuable contributions to industry and public aircraft operations.
HAI WAS THERE, as the late Harold (Hal) Summers, then HAI’s director of maintenance and technical operations, was a key voting member of the ROPWG, playing a historic role in elevating design safety and survivability standards for the vertical aviation industry.
This year, we celebrate the 75th anniversary of HAI, formed on Dec. 13, 1948.
Countdown to HAI’s 75th: 36 days!
