HAI WAS THERE on Oct. 10, 1975, to formally recognize the British Helicopter Advisory Board and the Helicopter Association of Southern Africa as organizations with common goals. This was one of the first steps in HAI’s growth toward becoming the international association it’s known as today.
A few months later, in 1976, Dr. Menno Kamminga of KLM Noordzee Helikopters of the Netherlands was elected association president. He is the first HAI president from outside of the Western Hemisphere. Our first international board meeting took place the following year, in Amsterdam.
This year, we celebrate the 75th anniversary of HAI, formed on Dec. 13, 1948.
Countdown to HAI’s 75th anniversary: 56 days!
