Improved Signal Conditioner delivers more fuel gauging system options, reduces development cost & schedule

(Georgia, Vermont – 8 September) – Liquid Measurement Systems’ (LMS) improved, second generation fuel gauging Signal Conditioner Unit (SCU) is designed to comply with a broader, more demanding range of system requirements, while reducing development time and cost.

It also delivers more functional system capacity in a single unit, which can mean fewer SCUs per system, lower shipset cost and less weight.

LMS President Scott Fewell says, “It just made sense to design a unit that could meet the most challenging requirements in its base configuration, with more built-in capacity for inputs and outputs than we’ve made available in our legacy designs.” As a result, Fewell says, development cost and schedule required to customize the design to meet customer technical requirements will see significant reductions.

The improved SCU is capable of up to MIL-G-26988C Class III system accuracy (± 1% of indication, ± 0.5% of full scale). Compensators and/or densitometers may be required, depending on fuel type.

One SCU unit can excite and monitor as many as twelve fuel probes or compensators, and as many as twelve temperature sensors. One unit can also accommodate as many as eight different tank configurations. More functionality means fewer SCUs per system.
